LINGUISTIC INTELLIGENCE


Gardner formulated a list of seven intelligences; among them, the Linguistic Intelligence:




Children who favor a linguistic intelligence tend to:


  •           Reason through words and oral and written language
  •       Be sensitive to meanings and the function of words and language
  •          Read, write, tell stories, play games with words, listening and communicate

Activities designed to teach English throughout linguistic intelligence:

  1.          WRITING STORIES
  •          "Once upon a time" ( 3er ESO kids)

  •           WHY?
  •          To improve writing and and reading skills
  •          To work in groups
  •          To estimulate imagination and creativity


`ONCE UPON A TIME´


  •          HOW?

  1.           Explanation of the activity
  2.           Groups of six students ( 3 pairs/3 stories)
  3.           Each pair begins a brainstorming
  4.           One person of each pair begins writing and passes de story to the person who is next to him


         2.  CROSSWORDS
  •          Eg: Didactic Unit: celebrations-Halloween


  •           WHY?
  •          Funny way of learning. Children like these kind of games
  •           It helps the oral communication in English among children
  •          Children learn to cooperate and to work in groups
  •           It estimulates the most advanced students and the less advanced ones

  •           HOW?
  1.           Students in groups of five
  2.           Each group has to decide which word corresponds to each definition
  3.           Each team has a mediator who must deliver the chosen word to the teacher
